Welcome to Rotterdam, the city of digital inclusion
We invite you to Rotterdam for the Eurocities Digital Forum, where we will explore the triple transition: digital, social, and sustainable. If in the past the digital transition was mostly focused on the technical and economic perspectives, Europe is now leading the way in integrating a social perspective. In our cities we are also moving towards a human-centred approach to digital transformation, with a specific focus on digital inclusion initiatives. Join us to bring your city’s perspective and experience.
How can we, as humans and policy experts, anticipate and respond to the signals shaping our digital future to ensure that our innovations serve the social good? What implications do these changes hold for our cities, organizations, and individuals? And how do they impact our aspirations for a sustainable, resilient, and green future?
On day one, we will focus on broader narrative. Through high-level political speeches and panel discussions, we will explore the importance of identifying signals early on and discussing them from both political and scientific points of view. Our speakers will draw connections between these signals and the imperative of digital inclusion, utilizing the array of digital tools at our disposal to navigate the challenges they present. Additionally, we'll delve into the role of values in shaping digital public spaces, showcasing examples from across Europe where values drive social innovation.
Day two will showcase our reality. Through site visits, we will get a clear understanding of the interdependencies of the digital transformation, towards our societal goals and the underlying values, requirements, and obligations. You will receive a map to help you discover the diverse facets of Rotterdam's innovative landscape, providing you with tools to build your own digital journey.
On day three, we will follow up on the previous days, exploring how we can observe future and their impact on digital inclusion. The last day will be about how we shape a human-centred European approach to digital transformation, through collaboration in the Eurocities Digital Forum working groups and taskforces, as well as engagement with other Eurocities Forums and flagship EU initiatives such as Living-in.EU.
