We are delighted to invite you to the next Eurocities Shadow Commission College Meeting, taking place on 5–6 October 2026 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
For the third time in this European mandate (2024–2029), European mayors, deputy mayors and local leaders will gather collectively at the European Parliament in Strasbourg to exchange with Members of the European Parliament and European Commissioners on the state of play of EU-city cooperation and look ahead to what cities and their citizens need from the EU.
The Eurocities Shadow Commissioners Meeting is Eurocities’ flagship advocacy event and provides a platform for engagement to ensure that local priorities are embedded in the EU’s long-term political vision and reflected in key EU legislative negotiations. Ten months after the publication of the EU Policy Agenda for Cities, and in time for the ongoing negotiations on the new MFF, city leaders will use this crucial moment to advocate for a truly city-friendly budget that reflects their pivotal role in driving Europe’s green, digital, and social transitions. Beyond that, this year’s meeting provides an opportunity to engage with decision-makers and negotiators on ongoing discussions around democracy, housing, competitiveness, the just transition, the circular economy, mobility, and many other topics.
By reconnecting mayors with MEPs, this event will both assess achievements from the past year and renew the collective push for stronger multilevel governance across Europe.
For organisational reasons, the participation is limited to shadow commissioners + one staff member per office.
