Negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) will intensify at during the Cyprus Presidency (January - June 2026), with the first figures expected to be shaped by the end of the Presidency. The Irish Presidency (July - December 2026) is then set to play a decisive role in concluding the negotiations. In parallel, the European Parliament will be developing and negotiating its mandates across all MFF-related files, seeking to maximise its influence in the interinstitutional process with the Council.
This March 2026 session will provide an opportunity to take stock of the advocacy efforts undertaken by Eurocities and its member cities, assess progress achieved so far, and identify remaining gaps. The discussion will focus on agreeing on strategic priorities and next steps, ensuring that the final phase of the negotiations is used effectively to secure an MFF that is better aligned with cities’ investment needs and their role in delivering EU objectives.
Participants can continue networking at a venue that will be announced closer to the event date. Please note that drinks will be at their own expense.
