Climate Democracy Lab draft agenda March 2025
While advocates for ecological transitions frequently advocate for democratic solutions to address climate and other environmental crises, the forms of democracy can vary significantly. Not all democratic approaches are effective in sustainably and equitably tackling ecological issues. This presentation will highlight the main pitfalls of existing democratic solutions, including: unclear and overly broad agendas; advisory roles that lack enforcement; educational and social biases in participation. Additionally, the presentation will outline key principles for effective democratic decision-making in climate policy. Some of these principles can be implemented within existing representative institutions, while others may require the creation of new, scope-limited yet powerful institutions that empower citizens to make final decisions.

Challenge owners will present their cities/regions challenges.
Prague (CZ) - Citizen Power: Co-Creation Tool for Sustainable Urban Development
Bordeaux Métropole (FR) - Living with Water: Building resilience through collaborative flood management
Rotterdam (NL) - Sustaining the Momentum: embedding citizens' voices in long-term climate policy

Team members explore the challenges in depth and start proposing different solutions.
Mentors check on their teams, providing feedback and tips for further work.

Participants will be provided with refreshments and finger foods.
The "Workshop with the Living" (Concertation avec les Vivants) is an innovative and participatory experience designed to integrate the interests and perspectives of both human and non-human living beings into discussions about public policies and territorial issues.

Inspired by the morning workshop, teams continue developing and refining solutions proposals.
Teams validate proposed solutions against their relevance and feasibility, and select one that will develop further
