Zagreb is the capital of the Republic of Croatia, located at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe.
The city has Central European urban character with a Mediterranean spirit. Its historical centre is divided between medieval Upper Town (Gornji grad) and 19th century Downtown (Donji grad).
Zagreb is also well known for its numerous museums, theatres, galleries and parks.

How to get to Zagreb
By plane:
Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport (ZAG), the main and the only international airport serving Zagreb, is located about 15 km from the city centre. The travel time to central Zagreb takes around 30 minutes. For more information, visit the official Zagreb Airport website: https://www.zagreb-airport.hr/en.
To reach the city centre from the airport you can choose between:
- shuttle bus: Direct connection to Zagreb Main Bus Station (Autobusni kolodvor). The bus runs every 30 to 60 minutes. Costs: 8 EUR

- Public bus: Local ZET bus line 290 connects the airport with parts of the city. The bus runs every 35 minutes.Costs: around 2 EUR.
- Taxi: Costs: around 15-35 EUR depending on traffic and destination.

By train:
Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor is the main railway station for visitors arriving from other cities or countries. It is located very close to the city centre (about a 10-minute walk from the central Ban Jelačić Square). It is well connected by trams and buses to other parts of the city.
By BUS:
If you are travelling by land, bus transportation is a faster way to reach Croatia from other parts of Europe. Autobusni kolodvor Zagreb (AKZ) is the main bus station, similarly located close to the city centre. You can look for connections at the AKZ website or via the AKZ app Obeo.

Public transportation
Public transportation in Zagreb consists of trams, buses and a suburban railway system. Trams and buses are operated by Zagreb Electric Tram Company (ZET) and they connect all the major city areas, including the city centre, the main train station and districts like Maksimir, where the event venue is. They run frequently during the day and less often at night.
Tickets for trams and buses can be purchased directly on board, at kiosks, or via the official ZET mobile application by scanning a QR code. Make sure to validate your ticket at the ticket machine once you board.
Costs: The single fare, daytime is 0.80 EUR, and the daily ticket is 3.98 EUR. Find more information on the ZET website.

Main venue
Maksimir Culture and Information Centre is the primary venue for the Mutual Learning event. The Centre is part of the network of cultural centres of the City of Zagreb providing cultural, artistic, social and education programmes in and for the local community throughout the city.
Located in the eastern-central part of Zagreb, it is approximately 10–15 minutes by tram from the main city centre (Ban Jelačić Square / Trg bana Jelačića). It is also located near Maksimir, the largest city park where people often relax.
The Maksimir Culture and Information Centre can be reached by trams 11 and 12 from the central city square of Ban Jelačić (direction: Dubrava or Dubec), by tram 4 from the main railway station (direction: Dubrava/Dubec) and by tram 5 from the main bus station (direction: Maksimir).
