The European Child Guarantee (ECG) provides a framework for a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to prevent and combat social exclusion by guaranteeing effective access of children in need to a set of key services such as early childhood education and care, education and school-based activities, healthy meal every school day, and healthcare. It recognizes that local authorities play a crucial role in delivering services and support to vulnerable children. They provide education, health, housing and social services to all children in need and are therefore at the forefront to fight child poverty and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Cities are instrumental in making the EU Child Guarantee a reality and in achieving the target set in the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan to lift at least 5 million children out of poverty by 2030. All stakeholders, from the European, national, regional, and local levels, as well as international organizations and NGOs, should come together to make the Child Guarantee a reality. This collaboration is instrumental in building a better future for our children, ensuring they have equal opportunities and a life without poverty and social exclusion.

This event is part of Eurocities and UNICEF partnership aimed at building the capacity of local authorities in localising the EU Child Guarantee.
