We invite you to join us on December 9-10 for the two-day study visit and seminar “Young Netizens – Advancing online safety and wellbeing of youth in cities*", organised by the City of Amsterdam and Eurocities Working Group Digital Citizenship.
Young people grow up in a digital world that offers many opportunities but also brings new risks. Cities are looking for ways to support young people in using the online world safely, critically and with confidence. In this context, the 2-day study visit will focus on the role of cities in strengthening the online safety, wellbeing and digital resilience of young people.
Hosted by the City of Amsterdam, the event will be organised around several key themes:

The impact of AI on young people;
- Mental health of the youth in the digital age;
- Online safety, including online recruitment for criminal activities and online violence;
- Democratic values, including anti-discrimination, polarisation and disinformation;
- Digital skills
Programme highlights:
The programme will include keynote contributions, city presentations, interactive sessions and site visits. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange with local and European actors in interactive workshops; explore local approaches to online safety and digital resilience; and discuss remaining needs and opportunities for collaboration.
Young people from Amsterdam will join during the interactive thematic sessions, where they will share their views and discuss the themes with participants. The seminar will also create space for dialogue with European and national institutions on how cities can be supported in this fast-developing field.
- The first day of the event (Wednesday, December 9) will take place at the cultural centre Tolhuistuin and will focus on knowledge exchange, urban interventions and thematic sessions. The programme will run from 09:00 to 21:00 CET, including dinner.
- The second day (Thursday, December 10) will include site visits and a closing session at TUMO Amsterdam, with a focus on future cooperation between cities. The programme will run from 09:00 to 13:30 CET, including lunch.
