Elizabeth Calderón Lüning is the Mission Lead for Democracy and Technology at The Democratic Society, where she leads the efforts of strengthening democracy-driven technology development, public-good digital regulation and a stronger involvement of civil society in digital policy. Prior, she was a doctoral researcher at the German Weizenbaum Institute, where she researched on urban digital policy and participation.

Petra currently works with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the area of Institutional Innovation and supports cities across Slovakia as a digital transformation advisor for cities in Slovakia. She has experienced corporate innovation in her role of Innovation Lead at the global digital team for external engagement at Takeda Pharmaceuticals.
Petra was the first Chief Innovation Officer for the City of Bratislava. During her five-year tenure at the City of Bratislava, she created the innovation and digital services department with 20 multidisciplinary professionals. Together, they were redesigning and developing new digital services for the city and its organizations. Petra is also a co-host of the radio show Zive mesto_FM where she looks at the innovation and design for sustainable cities.
She has established the Bratislava Living Lab with several pilot projects running, deepened cooperation with the academic and business sectors as well as international networks. She was the founding Executive Manager at the Slovak Alliance for Innovation Economy (SAPIE), a policy advocacy body and an association of over 150 innovative companies in Slovakia. She is also a co-author of the V4 Startup Report and Titans of Tomorrow: Slovak Scaleup Report. Prior to her return to Slovakia, she worked as the Digital Communications Manager at the Royal Institution of Australia in Adelaide. She was also co-organizer and licensee of various TEDx events in Adelaide and Bratislava.
Petra was a Fellow at the Aspen Ideas Festival 2024. Petra co-hosts a national radio show about systemic and sustainable cities called Liveable Cities since 2022.
She is a seasoned journalist working at the intersection of technology and social sciences with extensive experience in project and team management. With over 25 years' experience working in journalism, communication strategy, community building and content design across different sectors, including media outlets, social bodies, private and public sectors, she has led communication for Decidim platform and directed its conference Decidim Fest. She was the curator of the technological aix for the Biennial of Thought 2022. She leads the coordination of the European Capital of Democracy Barcelona 2023/24 at the Metropolitan Strategic Plan of Barcelona.
Nil Homedes is a political scientist specialised in digital public policy, citizen participation and technological sovereignty. He is the president of the Decidim Free Software Association and is currently working in the Decidim Barcelona team as head of the Decidim for Organisations project, training and advising organisations in the implementation of the decidim platform.
As the International Referent of Participation and Democratic Innovation at the Barcelona City Council, she contributes significantly to the Decidim project and the European Capital of Democracy initiative. Her work spans the educational field, and she actively participates in networks like the City Coalition for Digital Rights and ECoD. She is dedicated to fostering democratic engagement and digital rights on a global scale.

Jordi Cirera
Jordi Cirera graduated from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona) with a B.S in Computer Engineering.
In the more than 30th year of his career at the Institut Municipal d’Informàtica de Barcelona (ICT department of the Barcelona City Council) he began developing several tasks, from ICT responsible for the Municipal Police and Fire Department to Chief of Operations among others. Nowadays, he is a senior manager leading the Innovation Directorate, fostering ICT innovation inside Barcelona City Council.
Sergi Cardona Garnés is part of the Technical Office team at the Canòdrom - Centre for Digital and Democratic Innovation. He is responsible for cultural production, event programming, and digital communication. Holds a Master's degree in Cultural Management (UOC), a Postgraduate degree in Education and Culture (UdG-UNESCO), and a Bachelor's degree in Art History (UB). He has worked in cultural facilities, focusing on production and communication.
Pau Balcells is a Program Officer at the Barcelona City Council Data Office, focusing on data governance and promoting data-driven policies. He acts as a liaison officer with national and international data ecosystems, engaging with both public and private stakeholders. His greatest achievements include the 'Government Measure for Ethical Data Management' and the EC-funded project 'DECODE'.
With over 15 years of experience in research and innovation, Pau is currently dedicated to the digital economy, developing data science for better policy-making and program evaluation. Previously, he worked in health research centers, contributing to projects related to genomics, epidemics, and vaccines, including the recently approved malaria vaccine.
