Democracy Lab Bilbao cover image

A city challenge is a real issue faced by a local government that requires new ways of engaging children and young people in local democracy. In this edition of the Democracy Lab, the challenges focus on how to give children and youth real influence in city decisions – for example by using art and culture, digital tools, climate action, or new participation structures to reach those who are usually not heard. Each challenge is therefore not just a problem to solve, but an opportunity to co-design concrete, inclusive and democratic interventions that can be implemented in the participating cities.

Challenges have been selected through an open call by the jury made up of representatives of Nets4Dem, City of Bilbao and Arantzazulab.

Each participant will be assigned to one city challenge to work on at the Lab alongside the challenge owners and peers.
