European Mayors’ Summit

The Summit is a high-level political meeting between European Mayors and the newly elected Members of the European Parliament, where the Mayors will share their vision for the next mandate of the European Union, dialogue with the new MEPs, and strengthen their collaboration with the European Parliament.

The meeting with the MEPs will be held on the morning of 22 October at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament. It will be concluded with the signing of a political declaration, stating the Mayors’ expectations for the future of Europe and the essential role of cities in the European Union.

The meeting with the MEPs will be prepared by a meeting between Mayors on the 21 October afternoon at Strasbourg City Hall, where the Mayors will have the opportunity to assess the results of the European elections, share their political priorities for the next EU mandate, and refine their messages to MEPs. Discussions will be organised around four main themes:

·       Cities as actors of the EU Democracy and the next European Budget

·       Inclusive & welcoming cities

·       Ensuring Healthy & Climate-friendly Urban Areas

·       Innovative & Vibrant cities

For organisational reasons, the city delegation is limited to one Mayor and one collaborator.
